I wrote this one a while back, posting it in chapters to time_and_chips. Inspired by the Glastonbury festival and Chris' love of music, this fic features the Doctor and Rose at Glastonbury.

A/N: Apologies to lovepollution since I promised to archive this for her weeks ago.

The song warbled and whined, then ground to a halt. Rose banged her personal stereo on the console to no avail.

“Damn,” she said, pulling off her headphones.

“Problem?” the Doctor's voice drifted up from the hole in the floor. He was tinkering with the TARDIS again. Rose wondered what was wrong with it. If anything was wrong with it. She suspected the Doctor was filling time between the last adventure and the next.

“Yeah. My batteries have run down.”

“Oh dear,” he said with fake sympathy. “Pass me the spanner.”

Rose picked up the spanner and gave it to him, sitting by the access hatch and watching him. “I need to get some more” she told him, then a thought occurred to her. “Unless you have more jiggery pokery to make my stereo work.”

“The TARDIS does have a radio you know.”

“Yes I know, but it only plays music you like and your taste in music leaves much to be desired.”

“That's no way to talk to someone you want to persuade to pop to the nearest Dixons for batteries. What's it take? AAs?”

“Yeah.”

“Just those you're after, nothing else?”

“Like?”

“Dunno. C batteries.” He broke off long enough to smirk at her.

Rose went red at the insinuation. “I don't have anything like that!” she exclaimed.

“What the matter Rose? Can't get no satisfaction?”

“You want braining with that spanner?”

The Doctor chuckled and hummed the tune for a while. He knew full well that Rose was glowering at him, although that knowledge encouraged rather than discouraged him. No taste in music indeed! What did she know? He could give her a list a hundred miles long of the concerts... his inner monologue ground to a halt as he thought of something. He hauled himself out of the hole, sat on the edge and grinned at her.

“Wanna go one better than batteries?” he asked.

“What?!” Rose squeaked, jumping immediately to the wrong conclusion.

He laughed at the outrage on her face. “Better than a tape Rose. Crickey, is that all you humans ever think of?”

“I... you...” Rose gave up with a sigh; she knew she'd never win this conversation. “What do you mean?”

“Live music Rose; that's what I mean?”

“Like a concert?” she asked hopefully.

“Like Glastonbury.”

The very idea filled Rose with excitement and her eyes went wide. “Really? We could go?”

“Why not? The TARDIS is like a Martini: any time, any place, any where.”

Rose shot him a filthy look. “Was that really necessary?” she asked snidely.

“Of sort, yeah,” he said. He smirked at her, his blue eyes twinkling with mischief. “So you fancy it then? Glastonbury I mean?”

“Oh yes,” she enthused, the bad pun forgotten. “I've always wanted to go but never managed it.”

“Great!” The Doctor bounded to his feet. “Come on then, pack some stuff; we're going camping.”

Rose stumbled out of the TARDIS and into glorious June sunshine that made her squint. The time machine had landed in a small village and her immediate thought was that the Doctor had misjudged. She heard him close the door behind her and turned to berate him.

“Ah, ah. Just a minute,” he said holding up one finger, a smug expression on his face. “Before you start, the reason we're here and not in a field is cos there is no way on Earth I'm parking the TARDIS actually at Glastonbury. Last time I did that, it was mistaken for a loo and took a week to clean.”

Rose giggled.

“S'not funny!” he protested. “Anyway, she'll be safe enough here.”

“But...” sobering, Rose looked around at the sleepy village. “How we will get there then?”

“That, my dear Rose, is for me to know and you to find out. Come on.”

The Doctor grabbed Rose's hand and dragged her through the narrow streets. There were few people about; none of which paid them that much attention. At the outskirts of the village, he pulled her over to the fence. The dry-stone wall was broken by a stile.

“Over you go,” he told her.

Rose glanced at him, complete bemused, but then shrugged and did as she was told. She watched him virtually bounce over and wondered just how many sugars he'd had in his coffee this morning. He smirked at her as he sauntered past, grabbing her hand as he did so. He lead her down a path that was so faint it was more a parting in the knee-high grass.

They eventually came to a little run-down house. Rose stared at it as the Doctor dragged her past, heading round to the back of it and a small shed. He let her go and rooted through his pockets, muttering under his breath. Rose frowned and folded her arms. What was he doing? Why were they in the middle of a field – the wrong field?

“Aha!” he cried suddenly, holding up a key. “Knew it was in there somewhere.” He pushed it into the padlock that fastened the door. It took several attempts to actually unlock it, which didn't surprise Rose considering the amount of rust on it. He took it off the hook and opened the door, sending dust mites flying.

The Doctor turned to Rose, brimming with excitement. “You were wondering how we got to Glastonbury.” It was more a statement, but Rose nodded anyway. “In here, my fair lady, your chariot awaits.”

Rose stared into the gloom of the shed. As her eyes got used to the dim light, a shadow took shape and after a moment she recognised it. “That's a motorbike,” she said, stunned. She looked at the Doctor and blinked. “Is that... yours?”

“Yep,” he said happily. He wandered into the shed and over to the bike. He pulled off the dust cover and stroked it with a blissful look on his face that Rose thought was reserved for the TARDIS.

The Doctor kicked in the motorbike's sidestand and wheeled it past Rose into the open air. She looked it over. It was a deep burgundy with lots of chrome that sparkled in a way it probably shouldn't after storage. The wide seat was black leather and she saw a symbol even she recognised etched into the material. It read “Harley Davidson”.

“Wow,” she said, lost for words. She looked at him. “We're gonna ride that?”

“Yep,” he said again, grinning idiotically.

“But... don't we need helmets?”

“Yeah there's a couple in the shed. And a jacket for you.”

“What if it doesn't fit?”

“It'll fit Rose.”

“Okay, enough is enough. Doctor – what is going on? What's with this shed? And the bike! There's not a spot of rust on it.”

The Doctor was watching her, his face adopting the unreadable mask it managed so well. He looked at her, then down at the bike. A faint smile crossed his face.

“It's hard to explain... let's just say the shed is connected to the TARDIS.”

“But we couldn't just land here... or go through a door?”

“No Rose... It's here and, well yeah,” the Doctor sighed, crossed to her and placed his hands on her shoulders. “Stop asking questions. You do want to go to Glastonbury, don't you?”

She might have argued more, but his proximity silenced her when his words couldn't. Simple physical contact, yet it dried her mouth and made her heart race just a little. Short of breath and words, she nodded. He touched her cheek briefly, then he was gone - into the shed like a mini whirlwind – leaving her gasping slightly. She shook herself and watched as he re-emerged with a bundle in his arms.

The jacket did, in fact, fit. As did the helmet. Rose donned them, biting her lip against the half dozen questions. The Doctor slung panniers over the rear of the seat. They were, he informed her, packed with everything they'd need. She didn't question it as the explanation was likely to hurt her head. Anyway, he'd only grin and feed her some line. Sometimes it was easy just to accept things; especially where the Doctor was concerned.

It was only when he threw one leg over the seat and fired up the engine that it dawned on Rose she was going to have to sit on it also. Behind him, on a bike – a fast bike – with very little to hold onto. She looked up at the sky hoping for salvation in the form of aliens. The blue sky remained unhelpfully empty.

The Doctor was looking at her. “Come on then,” he said, impatience lacing his voice.

“I...” Rose stared at him, then at the bike. It might be okay in a straight line, but then there were corners... she wondered how the hell she'd stay on. “I can't,” she squeaked.

“Rose,” he sighed, barely audible over the rumble of the engine. He held out one leather gloved hand. “Don't you trust me?”

The question hung there and Rose could have killed him. How dare he ask her that? It wasn't fair; of course she did but... the thought of being on the bike terrified her. She looked at the Doctor and saw understanding in those bright blue eyes and a sympathy that belied the challenge of his words.

“Sod it,” she said to herself. “You only live once Rose Tyler.” And before she could think better of it, she'd crossed to the bike and clambered up behind the Doctor. “Not done this before,” she confessed to him.

“Nothing to it,” he said, patting her hand as she wrapped her arms around his waist. “Just hold on.”

“Yeah, 'cause I'm going to let go aren't I?” she muttered sarcastically. The bike shifted under her and she tightened her grip on the Doctor. She wanted to tell him that this was a bad idea – a really, really bad idea. Then it was too late and they were tearing down the narrow road that led from the house, at a speed that made Rose scream. This was it; she was going to die. The ground sped past under her and there was nothing round her but air. No protection to rely on if she fell and balanced on two wheels how soon would gravity remember to claim them? She tried closed her eyes, but that was worse.

Clinging onto the Doctor for dear life, she swore in a steady stream, even though she knew he couldn't hear her. Or maybe he did, because the speed dropped off slightly. It was just enough to take the edge of her terror and corners weren't as bad as she thought.

After a few minutes, when it appeared she wasn't going to die after all, Rose found that she could relax her death-grip on the Doctor and she eased back, just a little, looking at the countryside as it flew by. The hedgerows were a green blur beyond which lay fields of gold in various shades, depending on the crops that grew there. There were cows in some and sheep in others. The road fell away and they soared downwards. The wind whipped past and a laugh bubbled up from Rose's chest.

“It's like flying!” she yelled. She giggled suddenly; the fear vanishing in a sudden rush of adrenaline. Her arms slid round the Doctor further again, but rather than clinging on for dear life she hugged him with sheer delight. Yes the TARDIS could take them anywhere and any when, but this... this was wilder, freer. In her opinion anyway.

And astride a machine that rumbled between her legs and with her upper body pressed up against the leather of the Doctor's jacket, it was ever so slightly erotic. She could smell the leather, feel the beat of his hearts. She shivered. The bike turned and she caught sight of a line of cars, realising immediately that they must almost be there. She felt a slight disappointment that the ride was over just as she was getting used to it, but that faded when she considered that where they were close to was Glastonbury.

One of the wonders of motorbikes was that traffic jams didn't apply to them. The Doctor cruised past vehicles that had been queued for ages, grinning at the non-too polite comments that came from some of the more tired and bored drivers. He simply waved, his biggest grin plastered over his face.

He slowed the bike at the entrance, pausing long enough to flash his psychic paper. He felt Rose hide her face against his back, shaking slightly as she giggled. Whether the guy on the gate was suspicious, the Doctor didn't find out as he was waved through. A queue of irate drivers came in handy at times.

Rose sat back and stared round as they tootled across the grass. The stages were already built, but she could see the stage-hands climbing over them and applying the finishing touches. She found herself grinning in anticipation. Then they were passed the sound area and in the camping field.

Despite the earliness of the day, the field was already a riot of tents in a variety of colours and sizes. There were several attempts at outdoor cooking going on and Rose caught the smell of sausages and bacon and felt suddenly hungry. Then the Doctor stopped the bike.

“Off you get!” he told her brightly.

Rose rather reluctantly let go since she no longer had an excuse to cling to him. She looked at the ground. She pushed herself back about two inches, leant forward to swing her leg over the back of the seat, then lost her balance and landed in the grass on her arse.

“Novel approach,” the Doctor said, dismounting with a grace that made Rose want to scream. She settled for tearing up a handful of grass and throwing it at him. It wasn't terribly effective. Especially since he didn't even notice; he was too busy removing his helmet and looking around, his eyes bright. He looked down at her, grinned and held out a hand.

Rose let him pull her to her feet. “Do we have a tent?” she asked curiously.

“Of course,” the Doctor replied, dropped into a squat by the bike and rifling through one of the panniers. Rose watched as a pile of metal sticks developed on the grass. After a while, he stood up and started to slot sticks together. Then he paused and looked at her. “Make yourself useful then.”

Rose bit back that she hadn't a clue of what went where, and picked up a couple of sticks. She smirked when she noticed a thin stripe of colour of each end of the sticks. Aha colour-coded! Well that made things easier.

And indeed it did and they had the frame erected in no time at all. Once that was up the Doctor draped over the tent fabric and pegged it down and then, in what Rose thought was a little overkill, also strung out every guideline and pegged them them also.

He stepped back and admired his handiwork. “Not going anyway that,” he informed her proudly. Then he looked up at the sounds of music that had suddenly started. He grabbed her hand. “Let's go party!”

The Doctor wove through the loose crowd, leading Rose by the hand. She laughed at comments thrown at her about her appearance and various offers to meet up, or to join parties, or for substances that were definitely not legal. She looked at the Doctor and grinned more at the dark expression he wore. His grip on her hand was even tighter.

They reached the Acoustic Stage on which there was a group of lads Rose didn't recognise but who were still very good. Must have made an impression somewhere; there was a small posse of fans cheering and singing along to the songs they played. Rose didn't know the songs, but she knew good music and bounced along with the rest of the crowd.

After they finished, the stage-hands began to clear the set and the Doctor pulled Rose to him. “Come on,” he said, leading her away from the stage.

“Where to?” she asked, glancing over her shoulder and wondering what she might miss.

“Since you haven't noticed; it's hot. And while I'm fine, I do believe humans need a water intake.”

There was a veritible market-place installed in the next section. Rose forced the Doctor to walk slower so she could take in the goods on offer: glow sticks, flags, rude inflatables – everything was represented. She giggled over most things, but she did manage to get a glow stick and a white Glastonbury t-shirt out of the Doctor before he insisted on going somewhere they could eat and drink.

The Doctor plonked down on a white garden chair sat under a blue-and-white striped gazebo. He had found one of the several bars, much to Rose's amusement and she teased him over the northern accent saying that he'd acquired a second sense for alcohol to match it.

“That band,” Rose said and took a deep drink of her pint. “They sounded northern. Does that mean they're alien too?”

The Doctor gave her a long, steady look while she simpered at him. “You know, I've come here to listen to music, not to get dragged to the nearest military base and dissected.”

“We're at Glastonbury Doctor; you know the biggest Pot Party in Britain? No one would pay attention if you painted yourself blue and wore a sign. Just ask you for whatever you were on.”

“That's not the point.”

“What is then? Actually, hang fire on that – I need the lav and I'd better go now cos I've seen the queues.”

-

Later, and the Doctor and Rose had bagged a space near the front of famous Pyramid Stage – home to the bigger names the festival attracted. Rose had changed into the white t-shirt, which may not have been her best decision of the day because it wouldn't have been Glastonbury if it didn't rain.

However she didn't care that there was a steady drizzle from the clouds or that the thin material clung to her curves because she was too busy engrossed in Coldplay. That and the fact that the Doctor was stood ever so close.

The rain fell down, the music had softened and there were people all around waving glow sticks. Then Rose felt a hand settle on her hip and the crowd seemed to disappear. She leant against him and the hand moved round to her stomach. She kept her eyes on the stage and tried to remember to breathe. They swayed to the music, lost in the rhythm and each other. Rose closed her eyes, her head falling back onto his shoulder. The rain hit her face.

The Doctor looked down at Rose's upturned face. She was smiling happily, eyes closed against the rain. She was utterly soaked but didn't seem to care. He knew he should, but she was enjoying herself. And if he was entirely honest, so was he. He did, after all, have a very good advantage point to the effects of a wet white t-shirt. He tightened his grip on her and her eyes opened and she grinned at him upside-down. He laughed and planted a kiss on her forehead.

Rose stared at him as heat flushed through her. She watched the grin fade, his expression becoming serious, intent. She stood up and turned round in his grasp. The set had ended and the rest of the crowd cheered, but neither she nor the Doctor took any notice. Her hands touched his chest, then slid upwards as he drew her closer.

It was raining and the ground was turning to mud. Yet as the Doctor placed a hand behind Rose's head and guided his mouth down to hers, she found she didn't give a damn. His lips were cool, the kiss soft and slightly hesitant. Rose wound her arms around his neck and pressed in harder. She opened her mouth as his tongue touched her bottom lip and shivered violently as it then swept in, stealing her breath.

An age later and they parted, both flushed and breathing hard.

“Rose?” the Doctor said huskily.

“Yes,” she said firmly. “Oh Doctor, yes.” And she grinned and laughed.

The Doctor grinned back, took her hand and they ran through the mud and the crowd and headed for the tent.

And yes, lm_jillybean I know I promised you smut.
The Cookie Crumbles

Characters: The Doctor, Rose Tyler
Rating: M+
Warnings: Graphic smut

Rose sat on the control room chair and bit into a cookie. She'd bought them roughly five minutes ago on Earth, shortly before the Doctor had dragged her away from the shops. She licked at the crumbs on her bottom lip and glared over the biscuit at him. The TARDIS was currently in flight and he stood over the control, watching the read outs intently. She took another bite and brushed the crumbs off her top.

“Do you mind?” the Doctor asked her sourly without looking up.

“Mind what?”

“You're getting crumbs all over the floor. Don't. Could interfere with the systems.”

Rose looked at him for a long moment, then took another bite, again licking her lips. The Doctor glared at her. She poked her tongue out at him. “Want one?” she asked, holding the bag out.

He put the sonic screwdriver down on the console and wandered over to her. “What flavour?”

Rose peered into the bag. “I've got choc chip or cinnamon left.”

“Hmm. I think... cinnamon.”

“Oh good, cos I'm not that keen.”

“So I get your leftovers? Fantastic.” The Doctor rolled his eyes at her, but he still took the cinnamon cookie and bit into it. “Hmm good,” he told her, mouth full of crumbs.

Rose giggled. “Now you're getting crumbs all over your precious ship.”

“Least I don't have them down my top.”

“God I know,” she moaned, pulling a face. “They're in my bra and all,” she continued thoughtlessly, then realised what she'd said. She looked up to see if he'd heard her. From the wide-eyed stare it was obvious that he had.

“Really?” he said, his voice a little high and cracking slightly.

Rose blushed and found her mouth rather dry in a way that had nothing to do with cookies. The Doctor shifted from one foot to the other. He looked uncertain; opening his mouth to say something before he changed his mind again. He did this a couple of times, then took a deep breath.

“Could help you with that you know,” he said in a rush. She stared up at him, not quite sure he meant what she thought he did.

“Oh? Really?” Was that her voice? She sounded breathless and far away.

The Doctor nodded and moved closer. He still seemed nervous, watching her carefully as if he expected her to do a runner at the first opportunity. He knelt in front of her and reached out slowly, as if he was putting his hand into fire. He never took his eyes from hers as he carefully brushed the crumbs off her top.

Rose had stopped breathing. She watched him reach out to her, felt his fingers brush across her breasts lightly and she could have sworn her heart stopped as well. She heard cinnamon was meant to be an aphrodisiac, but she didn't think it would have worked that fast.

Meanwhile the Doctor had found a larger crumb. He picked it up and lifted it up to her. Rose smiled slowly and, leaning forward slightly, she licked it off his finger, closing her eyes as she did so. She heard him gasp and desire pooled in her stomach.

“Doctor,” she murmured and reached for him. He moved upwards, abandoning his normal reserve and forgetting his doubts. His lips found hers and he tasted chocolate and biscuit then something sweeter. Rose's arms wound around his neck and her lips parted under his.

“Rose,” he groaned into her mouth.

“Yes,” she replied, pulling him closer. He kissed her neck and she arched towards him. “Yes, yes, yes.”

The Doctor chuckled as he eased back slightly. There was a very silly grin on his face. “You sure now?”

Rose sat forward and removed her t-shirt in one smooth moment. “Oh. Yeah.”

He leant over her again, looking downwards. “Thought so.”

“What?” she asked before squeaking as his fingers slipped into her cleavage.

“Crumbs,” the Doctor said with a grin and licked them off his fingertips.

Rose giggled, suddenly giddy with lust. “You're so daft,” she told him fondly. She cupped his face with one hand and drew him back down, kissing him. Then she smiled at him. “Think you might have missed a few love.”

He blinked. “Love?” he echoed. The expression on his face was suddenly vulnerable.

“Yes, you daft sod. Cos I let every alien I meet dip his hand into my bra, don't I?” She cuffed him gently. The silly grin returned, even wider than before and then he crushed her into a huge hug, his mouth hard on hers. His tongue plundered her mouth, stealing her breath and turning her bones to water.

Rose clung to him, the desire flaring hot inside her. She wound her legs around his waist, grinding herself against the hardness in his jeans. She felt her bra release as his fingers found the clasp and her nipples tightened as they rubbed against the soft fabric of his jumper. She moaned desperately as the months of sexual frustration piled onto her already wired nerves.

The Doctor heard her moan and nearly did the same. She tasted so sweet, her body was so hot and willing. Her grinding against his growing erection was driving him slowly out of his mind. However, he was getting to the point where he didn't really care if he was never sane again. Her breasts were pressed up against his chest. He could feel their softness but it wasn't enough. Unwinding himself from Rose's grasp, he slid out of his jacket and pulled his jumper over his head. Then he returned to kissing her, grinning as he felt her taut nipples push into his bare chest.

Closing her eyes, Rose surrendered to the sensations the Doctor was effecting on her body. His skin felt cool and smooth and made her all the hotter. He kissed her neck, licking at the hollow of her throat and making her mewl loudly. She heard him laugh, could feel the smile he wore as he worked further down. The last few cookie crumbs prickled on her sweat-damp skin and he licked them off slowly, his tongue swirled round over her flesh.

“God, don't stop...” she breathed, her voice rough with desire. “Doctor... please.”

“Rose...” he said. “You taste... of choc chip and crumbs. Tastes fantastic.”

“Everything's fantastic where you're concerned,” she laughed breathlessly.

“No,” he disagreed, shaking his head, his expression suddenly serious. “There's nothing as fantastic as you Rose.”

Rose went bright red and tried to hide her face in her hands. The Doctor gently pulled them down, and leant in for a teasing kiss that sent her nerves alight. He moved down to her chest once more, but there were no more crumbs for him. There was, however, the firm swell of her breasts and he trailed his tongue over one then the other, before taking more straining nipple into his mouth.

A loud groan erupted from Rose's lips, filling the control room. She arched her back, pushing herself towards the Doctor hungrily. He bit down on the nub of flesh and she whimpered. Her hands were iron claws on his shoulders, the nails digging into his skin. He could hear her breathing heavily and panting his name over and over. He dealt the same treatment to her other nipple and she bucked her hips frantically.

“Doctor!” she cried out.

He lifted his head and smiled at her. “Hello?”

“Oh don't...” she said, but giggled despite her best efforts not to. “You're driving me mad, d'you know that?”

The Doctor chewed on his bottom lip and then nodded. “Yup. Pretty much the idea.”

“Want you,” she confessed, flushing slightly. He shifted upwards, brushing a light kiss over her lips.

“Want you too.”

“Well stop mucking about and make me naked.”

“Can't disobey an order like that, can I?” the Doctor chuckled and he stood up, pulling Rose with him. He held her gaze as he undid the button and zip on her jeans, then pushed them down over her hips. He glanced down. “Nice thong.”

“Thanks. See? Shopping is worthwhile every now and then.”

He laughed at that. “Very true... still prefer it off.” And he dropped to his knees, sliding the jeans down her legs. Then hooking his thumbs into the elastic of her thong, he pulled that down too. He ran his hands up her legs and cupped her backside. His fingers dug into the flesh as he held her in place while he kissed her stomach.

Rose watched him, flushed with pleasure. She leant into his embrace and toed off her trainers. He held her hips whilst she stepped out of her pants and kicked them away. She stroked the top of his head, fingering the short hair tenderly. And gasped as he pulled her closer, his mouth against her mound.

“Oh god yes,” she moaned. Her hands found his shoulders again as his tongue probed between her legs. They trembled as he delved deeper and deeper. A shudder ran through her body, sparking her skin into goosebumps and leaving her light-headed. She watched though heavy-lidded eyes as the Doctor stood suddenly. He'd lost his boots at some point and she'd no idea when. Didn't care really, because he was taking off his jeans and oh god he was so gorgeous.

Rose stared at him, sweeping his lean, muscular body and then grinned at him. He smirked back; all confidence in himself that irked her slightly. He caught her hand and led her back to the chair. He sat down and pulled her onto it with him. She laughed huskily, pushing him backwards and running her hands over his chest.

“Hmm sexy,” she told him. An eyebrow arched.

“Sexy?”

“Yes. You. Sexy.” She bent forwards and kissed him softly. “Very sexy.”

“You're beautiful,” he retorted. “So very beautiful.”

Rose tilted her head and looked at him curiously. “You really think so?”

“Yup.”

“Really?” She didn't quite believe him; after all he'd seen the universe umpteen times over.

“Yes Rose, really.”

She smiled contentedly and shifted closer to him. She lifted her hips and sank herself onto his hard length. They both groaned at the sensation, seeking each others' mouths automatically. Their tongues meshed as they found a rhythm, the Doctor thrusting his hips up as Rose ground down.

“Oh that feels so good,” she murmured into his ear as he caressed her buttocks. “I've wanted this for so long.”

He simply whispered her name, lifting one hand to thread his fingers through her hair. The golden strands slipped like silk between them. He cupped her cheek and drew her face down to his. The kiss was feather-light; her soft gasps of delight puffing over his face. He grinned slightly and increased his rhythm, making her moan into his mouth.

The months of denial battered at them and they grew increasingly desperate. The thrusting lost its rhythm a little before Rose found his hands with hers. Their fingers locked, as they had done so often, that simple yet familiar act re-enforcing an older connection, merging it with this new-found one.

“Rose.”

“Doctor.”

“Oh gods... Rose!”

Her cry as she came echoed round the control room. Her inner muscles tightened around the Doctor and he shuddered as he lost all control. She collapsed on top of him, panting hard. She giggled suddenly.

“What?” he breathed. His entire body was filled with a pleasant languid warmth. He couldn't have moved if he wanted too. And he most definitely didn't.

Rose leant up and looked at him, her eyes glinting with amusement. Her hand slid onto his chest, plucking at his skin near one nipple.

“Oi!” he protested.

“Crumb,” she informed him and dissolved into further giggling.
Potassium

I wrote this fic a couple of weeks ago and posted it to time_and_chips. It's undergone the smallest of rewrites after a Certain Person did a week of reading the book at bedtime on CBBC. One story included the eating of a banana and the comment of "Mmm, good".

Therefore this is all Chris' fault.

It had started quite innocently, really. The Doctor had swapped Jack's weapon for a banana, then told him to keep a hold of it. Good source of potassium, he'd said. Rose didn't doubt it. She also didn't doubt that, shaped the way there were, that bananas were a good source of something else.

Of course Rose had not inferred anything about this other use when she'd asked to see the groves. She'd simply wanted to see this place that had once been a weapons factory but now served to go bananas.

The planet was beautiful and peaceful. They had actually gone a whole day without being imprisoned or shot at or fed to anything. Rose sat on her bed, peeling a banana and wondering if she were if shock. She had a whole bunch of them. She chosen it herself, opting for a handful that were long and more or less straight. The Doctor had beamed whilst he paid for them, obviously believing she'd paid attention to him. Well she had, but... She giggled as she imagined his face if he'd known what else she had planned.

Rose took the bowl of melted chocolate of her bedside cabinet and dipped the banana into it. She bit into it and hummed with pleasure, closing her eyes.

“Sacrilege.” The word shocked Rose out of her reverie. She blinked at the Doctor, blushing at the naughty thoughts currently filling her head.

“Wha?” she asked him, licking chocolate from her lips. She realised he was staring at her mouth. Something warmer than the chocolate pooled in her stomach. “Thought you said bananas were good for you.”

“Well they are,” the Doctor said. “But not when they're dipped... in chocolate.” He tailed off as Rose dipped a finger in and then sucked it clean.

“Chocolate's good for you too,” Rose said very softly. Never taking her eyes off his face, she dipped the banana and bit into it slowly. She nearly choked on the piece when she saw how wide his own eyes went, before their blueness darkened like the sky before a storm.

The Doctor shut her bedroom door and crossed the room to sit on the end of the bed. “And the bananas?” he asked, picking up the bunch.

“Oh they're amazing,” Rose said. She leant against her headboard and the hand holding the banana dropped to her lap. Her meaning wasn't lost on the Doctor and he examined the bunch like he'd never seen the like before.

“Oh,” he said finally.

Silence reigned as Rose continued to dip the banana and eat it. She watched the Doctor as he turned the bunch over and over, obviously thinking about something else. Every now and then he flickered a nervous glance in her direction and on at least two occasions opened his mouth to say something before he thought better of it.

Finally Rose got annoyed with him. “Whatever it is you're dying to say will you please get on and say it? You're driving me mad.”

“I was wondering... about the bananas being useful,” he said slowly. “How exactly does that work?”

Rose blinked. She sat forward and took the bunch from him, tearing one off it. “Well...” She considered the yellow fruit in her hand. “Nah. Oral description won't work. Needs a physical demonstration.”

“Oh right,” the Doctor said faintly as Rose leant forward. The banana discarded, she placed her hands against his chest and ran them upwards, sliding under his jacket and over his shoulders. Then she ran them down his arms, effectively stripping the leather from him. “Rose...”

Her hands over his, Rose angled her face to his and moved the few inches necessary to place her lips on his mouth. The kiss was light, explorative. After a frozen second, the Doctor responded, kissing her back. As his tongue slid into her mouth, he tasted chocolate and banana, then something that was indefinable. Rose. He reached for her, bringing her body closer to him, entangling his fingers in her blonde hair.

For the first time in his life, the Doctor lost track of time. The only thing he was aware of was the weight in his arms and the feel of the mouth under his. He should be beyond this, feeling these emotions. Especially having them inflamed by a human. Such a fragile race, so often blind to the things around them. Rose wasn't like that though, she watched him and learned. Explored the universe with unwavering enthusiasm. She affected him. He wanted her. He loved her. He wanted to make love to her.

As the kiss became firmer, more passionate, Rose found the hem of the Doctor's jumper. She wondered vaguely how many of the things he had. Or was it just the one and it was made of psychic wool and he just thought different colours? Then she decided she didn't care and what she really wanted was him out of it. She yanked it upwards and he helped by bringing his arms out of one sleeve then the other. Then he realised that it wasn't possible to take it off altogether whilst kissing Rose and he broke off, pulled it over his head in a swift, impatient move and flung it across the room before returning to plunder her mouth.

The Doctor had decided that kissing Rose Tyler was really quite enjoyable. He fingered the silken locks of her hair and found the skin of her back under her top. He then made the discovery that when he touched bare flesh, she made a curious noise that seemed to vibrate through her entire body. He stroked her back and she made the noise again, trembling as she did so. There was a strap of fabric just under her shoulder blades, with a clip in the middle. Several attempts later and the clip was undone and he slid one hand to her front, under the cup of her now loose bra and onto the breast it had been holding.

Rose made the noise again, breathier and higher pitched. As the Doctor broke from her mouth once more to kiss her cheek, her jaw, her neck, she moaned again. Her hands clutched at his shoulders and her head fell back as she surrendered to his manipulations. Moments later and her t-shirt was unceremoniously dragged off her and tossed onto the floor, quickly followed by her bra. She was pulled back into the Doctor's arms for another soul-shattering kiss. Skin contacted with skin and she revelled in the sensation of his two hearts beating against her breasts.

The Doctor eased Rose backwards until she lay on the bed. He touched her face, cupping a cheek gently, before stroking his way down over her breasts and stomach. Hooking his finger into the waistband of her jog pants, he eased them and her knickers over her hips, Rose inching up from the mattress to help. He stood up, casting the clothes somewhere. He didn't know, hadn't looked to check – his eyes were for the now naked woman lying on the bed. She looked up at him, a small shy smile on her face. His eye flicked to the banana that lay next to her and his own smile widened considerably.

“So,” he said, leaning over her and retrieving the fruit. He held it up to her eyes and grinned. “Demonstration?”

Rose blushed but still sat and took it off him. “You wanna watch?” she asked, smiling cheekily at him as she ran the tip of the banana up and down her inner thigh.

The Doctor watched her, entranced. He nodded slowly.

It wasn't quite the response Rose had expected. She felt a small shiver of shock, but then the idea of getting herself off whilst he watched her was suddenly highly erotic. Well okay... She shifted herself to a more comfortable position, parting her legs further. She held his gaze as her left hand caressed her breast, tweaking the nipple to erectness. His eyes darkened and he swallowed, but he didn't move. So the hand moved down and she touched herself, her middle finger playing with her clit.

Utter silence reigned in the room as Rose continued to touch herself up. She closed her eyes briefly, imagining the Doctor's hands upon her, but it was more pleasurable open them and acknowledge it was her own and he was stood there watching her. His expression was unreadable, much the same one he wore when she'd introduced him to Jack, when he'd met Adam, when Mickey's name was mentioned. She didn't need an expression though; the storm in his eyes told her everything she needed to know.

Smiling cattily at him, Rose slid a finger into herself. She noted his hands fisting at his sides, heard the sharp intact of breath and had to marvel at his self-control. She stroked herself lazily, enjoying the slow build-up of tension. She added a second finger, stretching herself, preparing for the next stage.

The Doctor watched Rose's fingers moving slowly in and out. He stood torn between the erotic pleasure of simply watching her and the desire to move her fingers in favour of his own. Then the decision was made for him as she pushed the banana into herself. His legs gave out at the sight and he sat on the bed, reaching for her hands and gently pulling them away.

“Think I get the idea,” he told her in a low voice. “Allow me.”

Rose sighed softly as he took over in sliding the banana within her. She lifted her hand to touch his cheek tenderly. He twisted his head, taking her fingers into his mouth and sucked them. She gasped; her hips bucking upwards of their own accord. “Doctor,” she whimpered.

He let her fingers go. He stroked her stomach with his free hand, then moved to her breasts. He pinched one nipple as he'd seen her do. All the while the banana stroked her insides. It moved easily, slickened by her arousal, so he quickened the pace. Rose clutched at him as her climax came closer, pressing her back into the mattress. Any second... The Doctor's mouth pressed against hers and that was it. Wave after wave of pleasure ran through her.

“You know you were right,” he told her. He withdrew the banana and looked at it. It glistened with Rose's juices. He glanced at her and then, with a very wicked smile on his face, he stripped the peel from it and proceeded to eat it.

“God you're terrible,” Rose groaned, throwing an her across her eyes. She heard him chuckle.

“Mmm... s'good.”

The Doctor made an odd sound as Rose hit him. She laughed in spite of herself, running her hand down his back. She found he still wore his jeans. “Okay that's so wrong.”

“What is?”

“You. You're wearing too many clothes,” Rose told him.

“Ah. Better correct that then didn't you?”

Rose groaned and hauled herself into a sitting position. She shoved him off the bed. “Stand up then,” she complained. “I'm not so impressive I can strip you whilst you're parked on the floor.”

The Doctor glared at her, but he still stood up. He watched Rose scoot to the edge of the bed. She reached out and undid the button on his jeans and then flickered a look up at him through her eyelashes. She sniggered softly at his expression, then unzipped his trouser and pulled them down.

“Nice boxers,” she purred.

“Thanks,” he replied rather dryly as he stepped out of his jeans. “I guess Jack was right.”

Rose laughed outright, then bit her lip at his sigh. Still she couldn't help giggling as she removed the Boxers-Recommended-By-Jack. She would loved to have heard that conversation. Then he was stood naked before her. Rose ran her gaze up and down his lean body, nodding to herself. She grinned at him.

“Impressive,” she teased and giggled again as he blushed a little and shifted uncomfortably. “Aww come here.”

She patted the bed and he sat next to her. Rose pushed him backwards onto the pillow, kissing him tenderly. Her hands traced his chest, feeling that unusual beat that was solely his. She followed the trail of her hands with her mouth, kissing his slightly cooler flesh. She nibbled at a nipple, loving the groan he made as she did so.

“Rose,” he complained.

“Shush,” she retorted. “S'your turn now, so just lie there and enjoy it.”

Well if she was going to put it that way, who was he to argue? Especially since her warm, wet kisses were moving ever downwards. He knew where she was going and he smiled, anticipating the moment. He could feel her hair tickle his skin. It was soft as silk and made him shiver. Her hands shook slightly as they caressed him, touching every part before wrapping round his cock and rubbing up and down.

Rose heard him swear something the TARDIS neglected to translate and grinned, her mouth still against his stomach. She stroked him, her hand loose, not wanting to get him too hard too soon. And as she leaned on his hip, she thought about bananas and giggled suddenly. She sat up and managed to grab the bowl of chocolate without having to ease her grip. She had one glance at the Doctor's wide-eyed expression before she tipped the remainder of the bowl. Almost-set chocolate ran slowly to the rim, then dripped on his cock.

“Rose!”

She ignored him, watching the chocolate dribble slowly down his shaft. After a moment, she placed the bowl on the bed, sweeping the insides with a finger and drawing aimless patterns on his stomach. She sat back and admired her artwork, chewing at her lip. Nice but not quite finished. She dipped her finger back in, dragging the last of it from the base. Then she leaned over and coated each of his nipples before touching his lips.

The Doctor grabbed Rose's wrist and licked her fingers clean. He pressed a kiss onto her palm, his eyes never leaving hers. She smiled at him and moved to him for the kiss she knew he was aiming for. Their tongues meshed and he touched her face, her breasts, making her moan. She broke away, daring to look into his stormy eyes.

“Love you,” she murmured softly, then dipped her head to lick chocolate from his nipple. He could only groan, one hand in her hair, the other on her back. Rose moved and licked the other nipple clean, before kissing her way back on his stomach. She erased the traces of chocolate with long sweeps of her tongue, leaving him wet and sticky.

Sitting back she regarded the last of the chocolate, then looked at him. “Told you it was good for you,” she said huskily.

“Rose...”

“Shh,” she stroked his thigh. “Won't hurt.”

“I know but...”

“So much,” she said, his hands tightening on his legs, her gaze intent. The Doctor could only swallow and nod. And at that, Rose bent her head to his crotch.

She licked him at first, carefully removing the chocolate with long firm licks. She felt his hands clutch at her, heard him moan and groan her name. Pleasure spiked through her that she had the ability to make him lose control to this degree. She took him into her mouth, sucking gently. She'd never been one to do this before, but for him... well this was different, he was different. He was better. In every sense of the word.

Need pooled in Rose again and with one long lick from root to tip, she positioned herself over him. She leant forward to kiss him as she sank down, finally joining them together. The victory she felt made her grin against his lips. She tilted her head and looked at him, a smiled dancing on her lips.

“You taste of chocolate,” the Doctor said, grinning at her.

“Really? How odd,” Rose mused shifting her hips. “You feel so much better than a banana.”

He laughed. “Good,” he replied, then grabbed her hips and surged his hips upwards.

Rose lost the ability to speak. Her head fell back, her eyes fluttering closed. She grabbed at his wrists and cried out wordlessly. Then she fell forwards, her hands hitting his chest as she steadied herself. Leaning on him she moved, rocking her hips in a sudden, desperate search for release. She knew he was gripping her hips hard enough to leave marks, but she didn't care.

“God!” she moaned loudly. She rested her forehead against his shoulder and murmured his name.

“Hmm?” Was his response as he caressed her. She pushed down harder, seeking a release that was simply not coming. In any sense of the word.

“This normally works,” she groused with a frown.

“Oh thanks. I didn't realise you were taking notes.”

Rose sat up a little. His expression matched his tone in annoyance, but she saw the slight hurt in his eyes. “I'm not,” she told him softly and kissed him briefly. “I just...” she sighed. “I need, well you know. S'your fault, leaving this so long,” she told him, poking his chest. Then she smirked. “I need to dance more often.”

Understanding crossed the Doctor's face and he grinned at her. “Ah you just need to see my moves,” he confided, and rolled them over effortlessly. “It comes back to me eventually.”

“Oh so it does,” Rose said breathlessly, wrapped her legs around his waist as he moved slowly within her. Her sigh of pleasure was lost in a deep kiss that stole thought and breath.

He grinned against her mouth and then planted kisses on her neck, chuckling at her increasingly frantic urgings. He heard her mutter something about him 'not being fair' - she had no idea. He slid up, withdrawing utterly and watching her eyes open in shock at the interruption. He waited just long enough for her to make eye-contact with him, then plunged back into her.

Rose cried out as pleasure and pain met head-on. “Oh god!” she gasped as he thrust firmly within her.

The Doctor just kissed her. He waited until her body began to relax again, lulled by his steady rhythm, then he repeated the action – pulling out before thrusting into her warm wet body hard and fast. This time she screamed his name, her hands clutching at him.

“No?” he asked, stilling to give her chance to think.

Rose shook her head violently. “Oh yes.” Well there was a contradiction.

“Which one Rose?”

Her eyes opened and she stared at him, a slight frown on her face. “Which one what?”

“Yes or no Rose. It's not difficult.”

“Yes,” she said. “I think.”

“Rose!”

“Yes! Okay? Just shut up will you? Some of us are a little frustrated here you know?”

“I thought you had all these toy boys?”

“Toys are okay,” she told him, grinding her hips in an attempt to get him moving again. “But only for so long. Then you need the real thing and will you bloody move!”

“Well since you asked...” he replied and moved off her.

Rose's cry of protest was cut off he settled between her thighs and applied his mouth to her. Oh god, oh god, oh god. Her hands went to his head, stroking his hair as her hips jerk in a response she can't hold back. And for the second time, she found herself drowning in the onslaught of a climax.

The Doctor lifted his head and watched her, a faint smile on his face, then he moved back over her and thrust in hard again. He could do this all night but he knew Rose was worn down, both physically and emotionally. But he was also selfish and he wanted her so bad... and he thrust harder and faster, feeling his own climax coming closer and closer. And at the last second, he kissed her again.

Rose whimpered; there were too many sensations. She heard the Doctor half-shout her name and felt a warmth flood her insides. Her arms went round him as he collapsed on top of her. She breathed hard and he echoed her panting as they both lay sated and recovering.

Finally the Doctor eased himself off Rose, reaching down and pulling the covers over them as he pulled her into a lazy embrace. And the last thing Rose heard as she drifted into sleep was him saying: “You're right bananas are useful.”

Noises in the Night

Characters: The Doctor, Rose Tyler
Rating: T/M
Warnings: Slight smut.

The last thing Rose needed after a day of running from undead children crying “Mummy, Mummy” at her was to be awoken by an eerie sound in the middle of what passed as night on the TARDIS. She was meant to be safe here. Wasn't she?

She sat in her bed, clutching the duvet up to her chin and listened. The sound came again. She swallowed nervously. She listened hard but couldn't hear anything else. Knowing her luck both the Doctor and Jack were sound asleep. Leaving saving the TARDIS from creepy noises to her. Marvellous.

Rose edged out of bed, shoving her feet into her fluffy slippers. She caught her image in her mirror and froze. 'Oh my god.' Yes because whatever was haunting the TARDIS was going to take one look at her in her camisole, shorts and fluffy slippers and die laughing wasn't it? She changed the slippers for trainers, pulling on her jeans in between.

Exiting her room, Rose huddling against the corridor wall. Eeeooow. It sounded like it was coming from...

“Shit!” she whispered, going cold with sudden fear. It was coming from further down the corridor. Down where the Doctor's room was. Well yeah, she should have known really. She padded slowly toward his bedroom, staying as close to the wall as she could. She wished for a weapon, a gun or a laser. Heck even a stick. Anything was better than nothing.

The Doctor's bedroom door was dark panelled wood. Rose shook her head slightly at the oddity, then shivered again as the eerie noise emitted from within. 'Well here goes,' she thought and opened the door.

There were no lights on inside. Although the open door let some light in, it only served to throw odd shadows. They seemed to shift and could have hidden any number of horrors. Rose bit her bottom lip.

“Doctor?” she hissed. Nothing. “Doctor!”

A snore was the only thing that greeted her. Rose wished she had a weapon. Then she could throw it at him.

“Eeeooow!” The noise came from the Doctor's bed and made Rose jump a mile. Something small shifted. It moved from shadow to shadow, then soundlessly jumped from the bed and onto the door. Rose watched it. It watched her. Amber eyes glinted in the darkness.

“Meow!”

Rose stared as the shape came closer. It entered the sliver of light and she blinked. It was a cat. It was a bloody cat. She leant on the door frame feeling relieved and stupid and irritated all at the same time. She squatted and picked the cat up.

“Hello Puss,” she murmured. “Now what are you doing here?”

“Found it in the alley,” a sleepy voice told her. “Figured it was my turn for a pet.”

Rose glared at the Doctor, who was now sitting up watching her. “You know this thing's been making the weirdest noises. I thought we'd brought something dangerous aboard.”

“We did, it's called Jack.”

“Ha ha, very funny,” Rose sighed. She scratched the cat behind the ears. “So what's this then? A he-cat or a she-cat?”

“She-cat. Goes by the name of Pussy.”

Rose nearly choked. “Really?” she managed, her voice strained. “How... interesting.”

“It'll do.”

“No you can't,” Rose said, having sudden visions of him wandering the corridors calling for the damn thing. No, she'd die, she really would.

“Why not?” The Doctor seemed genuinely puzzled.

Rose wondered how the hell she'd gotten into this conversation. “Because... because...” she fished for something desperately. “It's not very refined.”

“S'only a cat Rose.”

“You cannot call it... that!”

“Why not?” He repeated. There was a faint smile on his face now. “Tell my why Rose.”

She stared at him, suddenly realising he knew very well why. “Figure it out yourself,” she sniffed. “I'm going back to bed.”

“Oi give me back my cat.”

Rose stopped and looked down at the animal in her arms. She stalked over to his bed and handed it over, noticing that the Doctor was at least semi-naked. She caught herself staring and it annoyed her.

“Fine you have it,” she said, depositing the creature into his lap.

The Doctor stroked the cat and it started purring. “Hello Pussy,” he murmured softly and flickered a glance at Rose. She glared at him.

“Probably full of fleas. Hope they bite you to death.”

“Nah. You haven't, have you Pussy?” He tickled it under the chin and it purred louder. “Oh you like that huh? I always knew I could hit just the right spot.”

Rose watched his hands on the cat and couldn't breathe. His words, spoken in that soft low voice, sent shivers through her. He was doing this on purpose. She should go, and go now. However her body wasn't responding to her brain.

“You certainly have a way with animals,” she told him, her voice faint.

“Not just animals. Or so I've been told.”

“You think you're so impressive,” Rose exclaimed softly. She'd said that to him before.

The Doctor looked up at her and grinned. “Well Pussy likes me anyway.”

Rose shivered at that. The dampness between her legs seemed to give that statement fair credence. “I never said I didn't,” she retorted. “But I still think it's a silly name.”

“Don't you like Pussy. I like Pussy.”

“Oh god,” Rose groaned, closing her eyes.

“What's the matter Rose?” The amusement in his voice told her he knew damn well.

“Stop it, that's not fair.”

The Doctor let the cat go and it wound round Rose's legs a moment before disappearing under the bed. He looked up at her, his eyes twinkling with amusement and a darker emotion. He reached out and hooked a finger through one of the belt hoops on her jeans, using it to drag her closer. The motion unsteadied her and her hands went to his shoulders. His skin was smooth, silky. It was cooler than hers, something she wasn't prepared for.

“Are you alien?”

“Yes.”

Rose stared into the Doctor's glorious blue eyes. She forgot so often; he looked so... human. He simply stared back, watching her reaction. His eyebrows lifted in a silent query.

“Is that okay?” he said softly. Obviously he had been thinking about the same conversation.

“Yeah,” she said, nodding slightly.

He grinned at her. “Fantastic,” he said.

A minute later the cat emerged from under the bed, its tail flicking in annoyance. It was going to have to find somewhere quieter to sleep.

Follow on to Noises in the Night.

Characters: The Doctor, Rose Tyler
Rating: M+
Warnings: Fairly graphic smut.

The Doctor pulled Rose to him as he flung himself backwards on his bed. She squealed and crashed against his chest, then lay there giggling. He slid his hands under her camisole.

Rose sighed at his gentle caress. She could hear the strangeness that was the beat of his hearts. She lifted her head and planted a soft kiss over one, than the other. She poked out her tongue to taste his skin, trailing across his chest until she reached a nipple. She bit him gently.

The Doctor groaned. “Rose,” he said, need husking his voice. He lifted the hem of her camisole and Rose sat back and held her arms up so he could ease it off her. His hands slid down her arms and onto her breasts. “Beautiful Rose.”

She whimpered as his fingers fondled the swell of her breasts and tweaked her nipples into erectness. The duvet was between them but she could still feel his erection against her thigh as she shifted slightly on his hips.

“Oh god, that's good,” she murmured. Then realised something. “Oops. One mo – door.”

She wriggled off the bed and sped across the room, shutting the door firmly. There was a key in the lock and she turned it just to make sure there would be absolutely no interruptions. The only thing was it was now pitch black.

“Oh.”

The Doctor spoke a word that she didn't understand. Soft light diffused the darkness. Biting her bottom lip slightly, Rose sauntered back to the bed. She grinned at the gentle smile on his face and stripped off her jeans and knickers. She got back on the bed and giggled as he pulled her under the covers.

“Beautiful,” he told her again and then took one nipple into his mouth. He sucked and nibbled on the nub of flesh until she cried out, her hips buckling and her fingernails digging into his shoulders. He left the nipple and kissed her hard and passionately on the mouth, dipping his tongue in. Then he abandoned that and assaulted her other nipple.

“Doctor!” Rose all but screamed, her hips curving up automatically in a silent plea.

Soft kisses moved over her breast and chest to the base of her neck. They drifted up to just under her ears and then...

“Theta,” he whispered. He moved over her, shifting his legs to between hers.

Rose felt him nudge against her and arched upwards. “Theta? Is that..?”

“Sort of, yeah.”

“Oh. S'nice,” Rose smiled at him, her eyes soft. “So Theta... would you mind terribly?”

He chuckled. “Patience. I've not finished with you yet.”

“Oh? Oh...” she gasped as he moved down her, kissing her stomach, then her hips, then her thighs. “Oh god, oh Theta please.”

The Doctor ignored her pleas and the hands that were trying to guide his head to where she wanted him. Instead he licked at her inner thighs and up each hip, tantalising close but just not close enough.

“Doctor... Theta... oh please,” Rose almost sobbed. Every nerve was alight, her body aching for him to touch her and fill her.

A high-pitched thin scream escaped her as the Doctor's tongue suddenly brushed against her clit. She bucked her hips again, desperate for release. He teased her still, flicking her with his tongue, circled it around the sensitive flesh. He could feel Rose's hand tight on his shoulders, her nails digging in. The trembling of her body beneath his. The taste and the smell of her arousal and her soft moans and little cries of lust. He lapped at her, delving into her hot depths with a finger, making her cry out again. He felt her spasm around her, tasted her juices as she shuddered in a climax. He grinned to himself as he felt her relax slightly; she wasn't done with yet.

Rose lay with her eyes squeezed shut as the climax washed over her. Although it relieved her tension a little, she could feel the Doctor against her; still licking, still fingering her gently. A flash of pure lust flooded her; she wanted him. She could feel the hardness of his erection against one leg. She wanted that inside of her.

“Come here,” she urged quietly, pulling at his arms. He moved, sliding up her body. He kissed her and Rose tasted herself. She shivered. “I want you.”

The Doctor said nothing, but he eased himself into her, revealing in the feel of her. Hot. Wet. Tight. Utterly divine. “Rose,” he muttered.

“Hmm?” Rose sighed with pleasure.

“You are beautiful,” he told her, in the kind of tone that brooked no argument.

She smiled. “I could say the same about you,” she replied, pushing her hips upwards, loving the feel of him filling her.

The Doctor grinned and began to thrust, slowly at first, then harder and faster as desire swept all control from him. Rose bucked beneath him, offering wordless encouragement. Her hands slid from his shoulders to his buttocks and squeezed.

“Rose!” It was a hoarse cry against her neck and she felt him shudder, felt the heat flood her as he went limp. His weight was divine and she held him to her. She continued to move under him until her own climax came, gentler this time.

She lay there for some time, feeling utterly content and complete, tracing idle designs on his back. She listened as his breathing evened out, felt his hearts steady to their usual rhythm. He pushed himself up and then kissed her; a long, lazy kiss.

He pulled back after a while and looked down at her thoughtfully.

Rose frowned at his expression. “What?”

“Not Pussy?”

“No Theta,” she managed, then dissolved into giggles.

She was singing. The fight ground to a halt as the two stared at each other. Jack smirked as he recognised the lyrics.

“Well isn't that interesting? I thought you'd taken her to the theatre.”

The Doctor flushed. “I did. Sort of.”

“Oh Doctor,” Jack laughed. “I always suspected you had a kinky side.”

“I do not have a kinky side!”

“Oh yes you do,” a voice purred from the corridor. “S'why you wear leather so much.”

“Rose!” the Doctor protesting, going from pink to a deep red.

She wandered further into the control room. She wore a fluffy white dressing gown and black stilettos.

“Interesting get-up,” Jack noted.

Rose smirked at him. “It's gets more so. Unfortunately you don't have a ticket.” She took the Doctor's hand.

“He does?” Jack was disbelieving.

“Nope, he's on the guest list.” And with that Rose dragged the Doctor away.

Jack sat on the chair. Well this sucked. Laughter drifted from the corridor, followed by a squeal. Oh yeah, this sucked big time. He swung on the chair. Fancy the Doctor going to see 'Rocky Horror'. Jack sniggered to himself. Certainly worth getting tickets for. Not that he usually bothered, normally he just snuck in...

A slow smile crept over Jack's face.

...

The Doctor's bedroom had the largest four-poster bed Jack had ever seen. The curtains were fine gauze in a soft pink. The light from the candles scattered around was dim but there was enough to make out Rose stood at one side, glorious in red leather and black satin.

Jack stared at her. The leather basque was cupless, pushing her breasts upwards and it pulled her waist in. The Doctor's hands grasped her waist firmly, holding her in place whilst his mouth devoured her nipples. Rose had her eyes closed and her head back. Her hair fell down her back in a golden fall that glinted in the candlelight.

A single gasp made Jack hard. He bit on his lip to stop from groaning aloud. Not that he thought they'd notice... Scanning the room, he caught sight of the Victorian style screen. He grinned and crept over to it, sitting in the very comfy armchair that was behind it. He watched the action unfolding in front of him. Talk about a bird's eye view.

The Doctor was fully nude, he noticed, as the Time Lord stood and circled Rose, a very predatory look on his face. And for a being close to hitting a thousand years, he was wearing pretty well. Jack found himself torn between admiring Rose in her outfit and the naked Doctor. For whilst the red leather Rose wore contrasted nicely with her pale skin and the shape of her legs was accentuated by the black stilettos, the Doctor was lean and well-muscled. And he had a very fine arse. Together they made a very erotic picture.

Right now, the Doctor was stood behind Rose, pressing up against her. One hand fondled her breasts, the other was between her thighs and whatever he was doing was affecting small mewing noises from Rose. Then she gasped aloud.

“Theta.” A soft sigh. Jack frowned, not recognising the word. It was only when the Doctor made a humming noise it dawned that she'd spoken his name.

“One of... your... better mistakes...” she panted, then cried out. “Oh!”

“Wasn't my fault,” was the Doctor's breathless retort. “Got the wrong day.”

“Fun though, wasn't it?”

“Oh yes.” There was a beat. “Rose, tint my world.”

Rose chuckled, a low husky giggle that sent shivers down Jack's spine. “That's terrible!” she exclaimed, twisting around in his embrace to wind her arms around his neck. She kissed him on the mouth. “Absolutely awful.”

The Doctor shrugged. “Got you in the basque though, didn't I?”

“Got you out of that bloody jumper.” Rose retorted, then squealed as he pushed her backwards onto the bed.

Jack watched the Doctor manoeuvre over Rose, heard her gasp as she was entered into. The filmy curtains made the image hazy, and the sounds of pleasure were getting just too much. Knowing his presense would be less than welcome, Jack made a hasty retreat.

Having science fact at my fingertips.”

“But... but... you have to watch it. Come on, let's make a night of it. Popcorn and everything. Be like being at the cinema.”

“Necking in the back row?”

“In your dreams.”

“Well...”

“Doctor!”

“Okay, behaving.” He scowled, thinking. “I don't I have popcorn. Let's order pizza.”

“What? Get it delivered?”

“Sure.”

Rose fell about laughing.

Half an hour later they were snuggled together on the sofa, sharing pepperoni pizza. Rose had no idea why the TARDIS had a room that resembled a living room, but she wasn't going to complain. Or ask because the explanation was likely to make her head hurt.

“You know,” she said after a while. “The Millennium Falcon kinda reminds me of the TARDIS; always breaking down.”

“Excuse me, fastest ship in the galaxy,” the Doctor sort of quoted.

“Yeah whatever Han,” Rose sniggered.

“Does that make you Princess Leia?”

“Dunno. Reckon I could get my hair to do that?”

“Maybe. You'd need an outfit though.”

“Not keen on white.”

“I was thinking more of the one from 'Return of the Jedi' actually.”

There was a long silence.

“I thought you hadn't seen Star Wars!” Rose squeaked.

“I've not. Seen that one though.”

Rose stared at the Doctor helplessly. Then she attacked his ribs, making me laugh as she tickled him mercilessly. “Tell me the location of the rebel base!” She demanded between giggles. They mock fought for several minutes before they fell off the sofa, the Doctor on top of Rose. He grinned at their position.

“Sure thing, your Highness,” he drawled in a bad American accent. And he bent down and kissed her.

In The Moment

Characters: The Doctor, Rose Tyler
Rating: M
Warnings: Angst, Smut, spoilers for Fathers' Day

The Doctor opened the TARDIS door and guided Rose in, his hand on the small of her back. He glanced over his shoulder at the scene they'd left – Pete Tyler dead on the floor, the driver stood looking shocked, the wedding guests milling round. In the distance he could hear the scream of a siren. He shut the door.

Silence descended. Rose stood still, waiting for the lecture. After several seconds had past and he'd still not said anything, she worked up enough courage to look at him.

The Doctor watched her face and wondered what she saw in his. He was too raw to hide his emotions. He was getting worse at that, especially where Rose was concerned. This whole stupid episode could have been avoided if he wasn't so... pathetic. He frowned and moved to the controls.

Rose felt her heart sink when she saw him frown. This was it; she'd ruined everything. Her little Adam moment. She wasn't the best any more; she was a liability.

“I'll go pack,” she said in a small voice. She turned and headed for her room. She felt the TARDIS shuddered and she ran, managing to make it to her bed before the world started twisting and tilting.

It was only after everything had settled again that the Doctor realised what Rose had meant. He ran to her room and flung open her door. She was sat on her bed, shoving things into her bag, tears streaming down her face.

“What are you doing?” he asked her.

“Packing,” she whispered. “I'll be ready in a minute.”

“Where are you going?”

She blinked at him in confusion. “Home. I mean, you're sending me home right?”

The Doctor frowned again. “I wasn't planning on it, no. Unless you want to.”

“Want to? Why would I?” Rose was even more confused. “But I thought... I mean I.... God Doctor, I seriously cocked up. I'd kick me out if I were you.”

“Well you're not,” he replied airily. “I'm me. And I'm not kicking you anywhere.” He crossed the room and sat next to her. “S'much my fault. Should've said no.”

“My wish is your command,” Rose whispered, staring at the top she had scrunched in her hand. “One of us is bloody stupid. Possible both of us.”

“I'd go with that,” he commented.

“I got you killed,” she said then, her voice barely audible. She looked at him, the terror of that moment echoing in her eyes. She swallowed.

“I hoped it would give everyone enough time.” He laughed at the stupidity of that. “Actually I'm not sure what I expected it to achieve.”

Rose didn't answer him, she couldn't. There was a huge lump in her throat and the tears were running down her face.

“Come here.” The Doctor pulled her into a fierce hug. He stroked her hair. “You know it's shocking how many times I do these things to myself,” he told her almost conversationally.

“Don't do it again,” Rose sobbed against his chest. “Please don't ever to that to me again.”

His hand stilled on her head. “I can't promise you that Rose. I can do almost anything else but promise you that.”

Rose gripped the bottom of his jumper, bunching the material as she had her top. Her knuckles brushed the skin in his stomach and they both froze. She lifted her head slowly to look him in the eyes.

“I know,” she whispered. “I understand.”

The Doctor registered those four words and the subtlety of their meaning. He gazed into her eyes, weighing them, weighing her. The look they held was one of acceptance, tinted with the slightest fear. Then he leant into her and kissed her gently on the lips.

Rose led go of his jumper as the kiss deepened, his hand flattening against his stomach. She tipped her head back under the pressure of his lips, allowing him entry. God she could swear she'd waited all her life for this moment.

“Rose,” the Doctor whispered against her hair.

Her arms went around his neck. “No promises,” she murmured in response. “Just here and now.”

He pulled back and looked into her face. “Is that enough?”

Rose gazed into his blue eyes. “Yes,” she said and she smiled.

The Doctor grinned back at her. “Fantastic.” And he yanked her back to him, the kiss he planted on her lips hot and hungry. Rose surrendered to it, clinging to him desperately. As he kissed her neck Rose fingered the collar of his leather jacket and thought of something.

“Doctor?”

“Hmm.”

“One thing I don't regret...” she trailed off and giggled softly.

“Oh? What might that be?”

“You stripping off this,” she confided, her fingers playing with one of the buttons now. “Was very sexy, in retrospect.”

“Really?”

“Uh huh.”

“Hmm.” The Doctor untangled himself from Rose and stood up. Giving her a wide and very wicked grin, he slipped out of the jacket and tossed it onto end of the bed.

“Oh very Full Monty,” giggled Rose, her eyes lighting up. “Should have music, but never mind.” She leant forward, resting her chin on her hands watching him avidly. “You can keep going you know. I'm dying to know just how impressive you are.”

The Doctor smirked at her. He pulled off his jumper and it joined the jacket on the bed. Rose made an appreciative noise, her grin widening even as a faint blush flushed across her cheeks.

“And?” she said, staring at his jeans.

“Oh no,” he chuckled. “Fair's fair Rose.” He grabbed her hands and pulled her to her feet. “Now it's time for you to lose some clothes.”

She kicked off her trainers and smirked at him. He pretended a glare and gave her a hard pat on the backside. She squeaked and threw her arms around him, inching up for a kiss that sent ice down her spine.

Sliding his hands up under her t-shirt, the Doctor found and undid the clasp of her bra, never breaking this kiss. He ran one hand up and down her back, whilst the other fondled her backside gently. He moved her back just far enough to remove her top and bra, then enveloped her once again, relishing the the feel of her naked breasts against his chest.

Rose groaned at the skin to skin contact. She could feel the odd heartbeat, a gentle constant reminder of who she was making out with. He was kissing her neck again, down near her collarbone and making her shiver with desire. She wanted him so badly it hurt.

The Doctor backed Rose to the bed and lowered her carefully down. He glanced at her as he did so and saw the love and utter trust in her eyes. She smiled at him gently, lifting one hand to stroke his hair. Emotion swamped him and he dived forward to claim her lips hungrily. He moved down her body, kissing her neck, her shoulders, her chest. Rose moaned and arched her back, offering herself up to him and he took one taut nipple into his mouth. Her trousers and kickers were removed and her legs edged apart.

“Ooooh,” she moaned. “S'good.”

“Yeah?” He ran his hands over her thighs. God but she was beautiful. One hand wandered up the inside of her thigh whilst the other found a breast.

“Doctor,” she whimpered, her voice high.

“Patience, Rose. I've waited a long time to do this to you.”

“Really? Ooooh god,” she gasped as his sure fingers found a pertinent spot.

“Yes really,” he said softly, holding her lust-dazed eyes with his own. He kissed her gently on each cheek before settling on her lips. His tongue probed her mouth as his finger worked her and she squirmed under his tender caresses.

A long shudder ran through Rose's body. “Doctor!” she begged him. Every nerve was on fire from the needing of him.

“It's okay,” he murmured into her ear. “I'm right here.”

“Not near enough,” she managed between gasps.

“No?” He stood slowly, watching her. Passion flushed her face and darkened her eyes; it made her even more beautiful. She watched him strip off his jeans, her eyes shining. Lust and love and desire. All for him. God but he loved her. He stopped dead.

“Doctor?” Rose said softly as she saw his expression change. “What's wrong?”

“Nothing.” He shook himself.

“Did I do something?”

He kissed her. “No, it's nothing. I just... realised something.”

“What?” She seemed almost afraid to ask.

He climbed onto the bed, lying down beside her and stroked her hair. “I love you,” he said simply.

The worried look on her face changed into a broad smile. “Oh good,” she enthused. “But don't you dare panic me like that again.”

There was a short pause, then the Doctor frowned. “You forgot something,” he scolded lightly, drawing patterns on her chest with his fingertips.

Rose poked his leg with her knee until he shifted, repeated the procedures until she made him manoeuvre over her. “I did?” she asked, sliding a hand from his shoulder to his buttocks. She pressed him down. “Have to remind me. Stupid little ap-ah oh.” She was cut off as he surged into her.

“Remember yet?”

Her eyes were closed tight and she breathed heavily. Oh god he felt so good. Remember? Right now she wasn't even sure of her own name. She shook her head in a negative.

“Ah shame.” The Doctor really didn't sound that sad and she could feel his lips quirk into a smile against her cheek. He began to thrust, slowly, teasingly. She whimpered in frustration.

“I...”

“Yes love?”

It broke over her, an overwhelming sensation as he moved steadily within her, gripping her heart and raising a lump in her throat. She had to blink back sudden tears. “I love you!” she gasped. “Oh Doctor.”

He held her tightly as she gripped him back, the tears flowing freely now. She sobbed, mourning her father, her mistake, the death of the Doctor. He kissed the tears from her cheeks, kissed her mouth. “Hush,” he whispered. “Rose, it's okay. Shush.”

After a minute or so, she calmed down as he caressed her face. She stared at him trying to figure out why she was lying beneath him in the TARDIS instead of on her own in her mother's flat. There was no reproach in his blue eyes, just understanding and... love. She took a deep breath, and let it out slowly, letting everything else out with it. It was okay. She was okay. Actually, and she shifted her hips a little and grinned at the Doctor, she was more than okay.

He understood the rapid change in her emotions, followed them perfectly. Saw the second she moved past the grief, although he didn't need to read the moment she resolved it within herself. Her urging told him that.

Here and now. It was all they had. It was all they needed.

Black & Blue; Part Three - Let's Go Back to the Start

Characters: The Doctor, Rose Tyler
Rating: T
Warnings: Angst, Swears and Fluffage

Summary: “This once,” he begged softly. “Please, land right just this once. I cannot lose her.”

The Doctor stood, frozen in shock. Minutes ticked by unnoticed. What was the point of noticing? His hope lay dead. He touched Rose's still face, then found her hand. It was wrong – she didn't hold him back. He broke then, crumbling to the floor sobbing.

“Why?” he choked out. “Oh Rose, why?”

He clutched her limp hand. He cursed himself; this was his fault. He should have gone back for her sooner, hell he shouldn't have left her in the first place. He loved her, and no evasion changed that fact.

After a while he got slowly to his feet. He paced the room, wondering what to do now. As he paced, his eyes caught sight of a piece of paper that say on her desk. He went over and picked it up.

“Dear Mum, I'm so sorry for doing this. Please forgive me but I can't do this any more. It hurts too much and I just want it to stop. I love him and he's never coming back and it hurts Mum. I know how you felt when Dad died now, because it's that kind of love. Please don't hate him either; I'm just too different for him. I don't regret going, I had the time of my life. But now it's over and that's why I'm doing this. I'll be with Dad though and we'll wait for you together. Love, Rose.”

The Doctor stared at the words. Devastation flooded him at her heartbreak, her kindness that extended to him even in the grips of such grief. He looked from the note to Rose's body.

“You stupid little thing,” he whispered, his voice breaking. “You weren't too different. I was just an idiot. Rose.” He walked towards her. He stopped by the bed, taking her hand again. “I'm going to fix this,” he told her. “I will not let you do this. I cannot let you die, not like this.”

Bending over her, the Doctor brushed a kiss on her cool lips. Then he let go of her hand and walked away. It was a simple plan; go back an hour or so and stop her. It broke just about every rule there was, but he didn't care. She'd be angry with him, but he didn't care about that either. His one concern at the moment was to get her back, alive and well. Everything else he could work on.

The TARDIS door closed behind him and he moved in silent determination from control to control. The machine groaned into life.

“This once,” he begged softly. “Please, land right just this once. I cannot lose her.”

Everything shifted slightly. He checked the time. It was an hour and forty minutes earlier. Was that enough? He hoped so because he couldn't face seeing her dead again right now. He exited the TARDIS and flew up the stairs.

“Rose!” he yelled, banding on the door. This time he heard a crash inside. The relief he felt when he realised she was still alive almost floored him. “Rose!”

“Piss off!”

The Doctor laughed through the tears that were falling. “Rose... Rose I'm sorry. Can we talk?”

“Go away!” She was crying; he could hear it in her voice. “Just go away and never come back.”

“Rose please. Let me in. Please don't do anything stupid.”

The Doctor nearly fell over as the door was opened suddenly. Her face was ravaged by pain and tears, but there she stood and he grabbed her, pulling her into a tight hug.

“Get off me you bastard,” she hissed, thumping his back. “What d'you mean stupid? Why are you here?”

He stared down into her angry eyes. He pushed the hair out of her face. “You're not stupid,” he said, his voice low. He glanced round. “Please let me in. I... we need to talk.”

“Fine, whatever.” Rose stepped away from him. She let him walk past her. “Don't make yourself comfortable. Just say your piece and then leave me the hell alone.”

“No.”

She spun round to face him, fury on her face. “No? What the fuck are you on?”

“Not vodka,” he replied and watched her flinch and stare at him.

“How did you know?”

“Because I came back,” he spat. “An hour and... thirty six minutes from now. Only I was too bloody late then.”

Rose sat down. “You... I... Oh god.”

“You were dead,” he said. “Rose have you any idea what that was like? To walk in here and find you?”

“Do you have any idea what it's like for me day after day going through this hell?” she yelled at him. “I love you and what? I'm not right, am I? You left me, remember? Left me and waltzed off without me. You tore my life from me Doctor. What else is there for me?”

He bowed his head. Her pain at what he'd said and done mounting on top of his own grief at finding her dead. Dead because he was a coward and couldn't tell her... “I love you.” He looked at her then. “I love you Rose and I'm sorry. So very sorry. I... forgive me. I know I don't deserve it but that's all I can ask."

Rose stood and walked to him slowly. She was still shocked that he'd been here before, that she'd actually gone through with her plan. The pain was so intense, still after all this time, she half hated him. “Say it again,” she told him.

The Doctor looked at her and holding her eyes in a steady gaze, he let her see the truth, the pain in his own. “I love you.”

She shook her head. “God you're impossible, you know that?” A smile found its way onto her face and she couldn't believe her reaction. “You've put me through agony.”

He reached out and touched her cheek. This time it was warm under his fingers. The recollection swamped him and he broke down again. “Rose...”

They moved to each other as one, holding onto the other tightly. Rose felt the Doctor's shuddering sobs and cried herself. He'd broken rules to come back and save her. He loved her, he really did. The grief inside her shattered and eased, to be replaced by joy. She clutched him to her.

“I'm sorry, Doctor. Really I...”

She got no further because he was kissing her and then she was kissing him back. It was a hungry, desperate kiss and there was only one way it was going.

The Doctor broke away and looked down at her. “Rose...” he shook his head, refusing to deny the need. “Here or the TARDIS?”

“God you're sure of yourself aren't you?” She pretended a frown, running a hand over his chest.

“Not really no,” he admitted and she saw it in his eyes.

Rose smiled again. “Should be. I want you.”

“I want you. I do love you Rose.”

“Doctor?”

“Hmm?”

“Take me home.”

Black & Blue; Part Two - A Little Too Late

Characters: The Doctor, Rose Tyler
Rating: T
Warnings: Angst, Character Death (suicide scene)

Summary: She felt a little guilty, but all she wanted now was to sleep. To sleep and never wake up.

Rose watched the TARDIS fade from sight. Her tears had stopped, replaced by a numb feeling that made her limbs heavy. Her heart was a cold stone in her chest.

“Oh Rose! I'm so glad you're home,” Jackie gushed to her daughter. “I was so worried. It's not safe.”

“Well you don't need to worry now Mum,” Rose said, her voice flat. “I'm home and that's it.”

“He isn't coming back?”

“No.”

“Oh Rose. Are you okay hunny?”

“No. And I doubt I'll ever be 'okay' again.”

“You'll be just fine,” her mum assured. “Come on, come on home sweetie. I'll put the kettle on and we can have hot chocolate and watch telly.”

Rose sat in her bedroom. The numbness filled her utterly. She hadn't eaten dinner; she'd simply not felt like it. She knew her mother was worrying about her, but she didn't care. She didn't care if she never ate again. It was too much effort.

Standing, she unzipped her bag and began sorting through her clothes. She threw those that needed washing onto the floor. As she dug down she felt something cold and hard. She pulled out a key. Her key to the TARDIS. She'd forgotten to give it back. Clutching it, she threw herself onto the bed and cried herself to sleep.

A thousand miles and more away, the Doctor sat on the ground. The planet was nothing but dust and rock, but it had been so much more once. His thoughts were as gloomy as his surroundings. Rose had gone; not that he was surprised – not after what he'd done. He really regretted hurting her to that degree, but he was fairly sure she'd get over it. He wasn't as sure about himself though.

He missed her. The TARDIS seemed empty without her. His life was empty without her curious questions, without the bright eyes that took everything in. Without that smile she reserved especially for him.

It had only been a few days, but nothing was the same. The universe carried on and still needed saving from itself. He still went and got himself into ridiculous situations. But when he ran now, he ran alone. His hands were always empty.

For Rose, weeks had passed. The disconnected feeling continued. Nothing her mother said interested her. She'd gone out with Mickey, but he didn't stand a chance. Her heart was someone else's and it had been stripped from her as the TARDIS had disappeared.

Her life in tatters, Rose slid into depression. She hardly ate, hardy slept. Her mother often found her at the window – staring either up at the stars or down into the courtyard. Jackie would ease her daughter away with gentle words and silently curse the alien who'd left her in such a state. She'd never tell Rose, but Jackie was beginning to think that she'd been better off with him.

The Doctor trudged back to the TARDIS and it vanished from where it had been to appear miles and years away. Out of the view screen blazed a plasma storm. He grinned and turned round. To an empty room. The smile vanished.

An ache throbbed inside him. God but he missed Rose. It hurt him. He needed her. He loved her.

The thought shook him. But on reflection, he knew it was true. He couldn't, he shouldn't. It was wrong. Yet it felt so right. He currently felt like he was missing half of himself and he needed her.

Okay so what? Maybe she ought to have been on this decision. The Doctor chewed at his thumb as he thought about this.

“Fuck it,” he announced to the empty air. He was going back for her and the rules could go hang.

Jackie worked during the day, leaving Rose to her own devises. One day it all got to much. Rose ached and she wanted it to stop, wanted to stop the hurting.

She wandered through the flat and into the kitchen. Opening a cupboard she found a tub of paracetamol. Another cupboard revealed a bottle of vodka. Rose stared at the two things. It was said to be painless, wasn't it?

Rose went back to her room. Pulling a sheet of writing paper out, she wrote to her mother. She felt a little guilty, but all she wanted now was to sleep. To sleep and never wake up. Never to feel the agony she felt right now.

She sat on the bed and downed tablet after tablet. The vodka made her throat burn and her eyes water. After half an hour, she began to feel tired. So very tired. She lay down and slid gently into sleep.

The TARDIS materialised in the alleyway by the tower block. The Doctor opened the door and looked out at the grey London sky. Sighing heavily, he trudged up the stairs, wondering why the lift in this place never worked. He arrived outside Jackie's flat and stopped. He didn't like Jackie. Jackie didn't like him. He walked up to the door, thought again and wandered off slightly. This was repeated several times before he bucked up enough courage to actually knock on the door.

Silence. He poked open the cat flap.

“Rose? Rose! Ah come on. I'm sorry. Rose!”

Silence.

“Okay, fine. Be like that,” the Doctor muttered to himself. Shoving his hands into the pockets of his jeans he started off. She could stay here and... and... He stopped. He didn't want her to stay here. He wanted her with him.

He went back to the door and hammered on it. “Rose! Open the bloody door!”

An uneasy feeling settled in his gut. He had no idea what caused it, but he always trusted a gut instinct. Something was wrong. He plucked the sonic out of his pocket and jimmied the lock. Edging through the doorway, he found the flat still and silence. His unease grew.

“Rose? Please. I'm sorry.”

Nothing. He roamed into the kitchen. There was a cupboard left open but no other signs of life than that. He checked the bathroom. Empty. He paused outside Rose's bedroom. If she wasn't here and found him, she'd kill him. He knocked and got no reply. So, taking a deep breath, he turned the handle and opened the door.

She was lay on her back, fully dressed on the bed. The blond hair spilled over her pillow. The Doctor grinned at her still form, relieved at the sight of her.

“Rose?” he called out. She didn't move. Not a flicker. It was then he noticed the empty tub on her bedside table, the bottle of vodka on the floor.

“Fuck! Rose!” He dashed across the room, but his mind was already taking note of the things his hearts denied. She was too still. Her face was paler than he remembered, her lips were blue. Her chest didn't move.

And he knew. Knew before he stretched out a shaking hand to her neck and found no pulse beneath his fingers.

Rose was dead.

Black & Blue; Part One - Shatter in the Blink of an Eye

Characters: The Doctor, Rose Tyler
Rating: T
Warnings: Angst.

Summary: It had been weeks since they'd faced the Dalek and they still hadn't talked about it.

The sun set in a kaleidoscope of reds and yellows. Rose stood next to the Doctor, her hand in his as they watched the sunset. It was a peaceful end to what had been a peaceful day. On reflection Rose liked having time out from the whole saving the universe thing.

She looked at the Doctor. His face was bland but his eyes were dark and she knew he wasn't seeing the wonder in front of him. She hated seeing him like that, so she squeezed his hand.

“It's so pretty,” she gushed, hoping to break his mood.

There was a low laugh. “Yes I guess so.”

“I've had fun today,” Rose continued. “Nice to have a change of pace.”

“Like I said; nowt on this planet that's gonna eat us or shoot at us or anything like that. S'not even any poisonous plants.”

Rose flushed. “Okay, you can drop that any time you like.”

The Doctor laughed. “It was funny.”

“Yeah, hysterical,” Rose said dryly. “I love itching like anything. And all over my stomach.”

“I never knew you were ticklish there.”

The blush deepened. The plant in question had left her with a rash down both arms and over her stomach. It had itched abominably and the Doctor had had to rub cream onto the inflamed skin to stop Rose scratching herself raw. Only in doing so he'd discovered she was ticklish. Very ticklish. And had tormented her until she was clinging to him breathlessly. They had stared at each other, then the Doctor had say something stupid that had broken the mood.

That was always happening, Rose thought to herself as she watched the sun slide a little further down. They would mess about, often flirting like idiots. Then it would start getting serious and the Doctor would change mood. It had been weeks since they'd faced the Dalek and they still hadn't talked about it. The sexual tension between them was stifling at times.

Rose looked at the Doctor again, her eyes on his lips. He had nice lips. She wondered if he was a good kisser. She grinned in the growing darkness. There was really only one way to find out...

The Doctor froze as Rose kissed him. He had no idea where that had come from, but... her lips were warm and soft and he could smell the scent of her hair. For a moment he lost himself, closing his eyes and responding to her kiss. Then he realised he was kissing Rose. He pushed her back.

“What on earth are you doing?” he asked her.

“Kissing you,” Rose answered somewhat defensively. “And you were kissing me back.”

“Don't be daft.” He was dismissive.

“I am not! You were!”

“I was not. Not on purpose anyway.”

“Not on purpose? Why what's the matter with me?”

The Doctor sighed. “You're human Rose.”

“Yes? And?”

“And I'm not. I might look it, but I'm not.”

“So what? We're not... compatible or sommat?”

“We're... look it doesn't matter. I'm not human and I'm nine hundred years old. You're... different.”

“Different?”

“Yeah.”

“Too different?” Her voice was small.

“Yeah.”

“Oh.” There was a pause. “You know this isn't half as nice as I thought. And it's cold. I'm going in.”

He watched her go and sighed. It was only a kiss, a part of him thought. Then he acknowledged that 'only kisses' often led to other things where humans were concerned. He did care for Rose, probably more than he should do. But it was because of that care he had to do this; he couldn't allow her to get involved with him. She'd only get hurt. One way or another.

Inside the TARDIS, Rose sat on her bed and cried softly. Any hope she had for something more in her relationship with the Doctor had just gone to smash. It was only now she realised just how much in love with him she was. He was everything to her and he'd just told her it was pointless.

Rose felt lost and alone, for the first time ever since she'd left home. Before when anything was wrong - when the world had ended and all hell had broken loose - he'd been there, right by her side, holding her hand. This time she was on her own and she was scared of how alone she felt. Her world had just crumbled.

Would he take her hand again or would he be afraid she'd read something into it?

Everything had changed. He wouldn't act the same around her now; she'd ruined it all. There was nothing else for it but to go home and lick her wounds. Release him from the burden of looking after her and not getting too close.

Rose stood and washed her face. She brushed herself down and went to the control room. The Doctor had come in and was tinkering – a sure sign he was uncomfortable with the situation.

“You know, I'd rather not be in the way,” Rose told him quietly. “I guess if I'm too different I probably am. I don't want you worrying about me any more. Take me home.”

The Doctor stared at her. “Are you sure?”

Rose nodded, not trusting her voice.

“Oh,” he sounded disappointed. “Well. I did promise.” He gave her a tight smile. “Ten seconds,” he said and spun the control.

The TARDIS shuddered and shook and Rose grabbed a hold of a support to keep herself upright. When the world returned to normal, she crossed the room and looked out. Her mother stood there, shock on her face.

“One minute, okay?” Rose asked her. Her mother nodded dumbly.

Rose looked at the Doctor. He watched her but said nothing. She ran down the corridor and into her room. The tears were falling again. She had hoped he'd argue – wanted him to argue. Not to meekly take her home. She picked up her bag. Too different.

She entered the control room and looked at the Doctor, her heart in her eyes. His jaw tightened, but otherwise his expression was neutral.

“Thanks,” she managed. “For everything. I'm sorry...” the tears ran down her face. “You... take care okay? Since I'm not here to pull your ass out...”

She dropped the bag and ran to him, throwing her arms around him. He stood stock still, his eyes closed against the pain of what he was doing, but she didn't see that. She planted a brief kiss on his cheek. Then she went to her bag and picked it up.

And left without another word.

Characters: The Doctor, Rose Tyler
Pairing: None at such; slight flirting.
Rating: K (Angst!Fluff)

Summary: Why did the Doctor show Rose the destruction of Earth? Set after The End of the World

The setting sun set the sky on fire. It blazed from palest yellow at the horizon, fading through orange and red and then deepening through the spectrum to dark indigo. The dying light tinted the land red so it appeared that the ground was bloodstained. The picture was not lost on the sole observer.

The Doctor sat, arms resting on his knees, and watched the sun. His eyes were distant as his thoughts shifted between the memories of the Earth destroyed and the final dying moments of his own world. The irony was one world lost despite every attempt to save it and other surviving despite no such attempts. He sighed, his mood was melancholy. It was easier to feel mild regret, to allow himself that much, rather than face the darkness of the grief that ran deeper within.

Jabe had been the first being he had encountered to realise what he was and everything that it entailed. Her condolences, as sincere as they had been, had served only to remind him of something he tried very hard to forget. It wasn’t just that though; it also made him think about why he’d brought Rose to watch the end of the world. Her world. He hadn’t thought, he acknowledged that now. It was only really later - watching her watch the remains floating, burning, and listening to her - that something connected inside him.

Desperate to reassure her, he had done for her the one thing he couldn’t do for himself – go back to her own time and see it as it was. He had told her then, of the war. Whether or not she’d noted the similarities, he didn’t know; she hadn’t mentioned it one way or the other. She was bright enough. Maybe she’d just forgiven him. Hopefully. The Doctor watched the sun sink beyond the horizon and sighed. He was so out of time.

Rose sat in her room inside the Tardis. She could have sworn that it hadn’t existed the last time she’d been in it, but she supposed that anything that was bigger inside than out could be changed. She found it was easier on her brain if she just accepted things like that and didn’t think about it too hard.

Like the world being destroyed.

That was something she definitely didn’t want to think about. However, she just couldn’t stop it – like she couldn’t help picking at a scab. Why had the Doctor taken her there? If she were less of a person, she’d put it down to a cruel streak, having learnt that his planet resembled the earth in so many thousand years’ time. Yet she couldn’t quite believe that of him. He had actually thought it was a good idea.

“My planet’s gone.” His words echoed through her mind, making her shiver. He had seemed so detached, but one look at his eyes had told her everything. She had experienced it herself, however briefly. Watching her world burn, the knowledge that she was the last true human being alive. It didn’t take a genius to figure out what it must be like to suffer that day after day. Her heart wrenched within her; he was alone, so terribly alone. It was why she had chosen to continue to travel with him, the excitement aside. She could not have walked away and still lived with herself.

Rose got up and walked into the consol room. It was empty. She blinked and wondered where he’d gone. Crossing the room, she pushed open the door. Outside, it was evening and the sunset was spectacular. She stood for several moments, just drinking in the beauty, before she remembered what she’d been doing. The Doctor wasn’t hard to spot and she walked over to where he was sat. She plonked herself down next to him.

“You okay?” She asked.

The Doctor startled slightly. “I guess I think I feel alright.”

“That’s a ‘yes’ then?”

“Yeah.”

“Good.”

After a pause, he looked at her. “You okay?” The question was voiced softly.

“Yeah.”

They settled into silence, but it was a companionable one and not at all uncomfortable. Minutes passed, then the Doctor suddenly flopped onto his back. Rose looked at him in puzzled amusement.

“What are you doing?”

“Stargazing.”

Rose looked up. The sky was empty. “Erm…”

“Watch.”

Ever so slowly, the sky grew darker. Rose caught a glimmer.

“Starlight, star bright,” the Doctor chanted under his breath.

“What?”

“First star I see tonight. It’s a rhyme.”

“Oh. I don’t get it.”

The Doctor ignored her. “I wish I may, I wish I might, have the wish I wish tonight.”

Rose stared at him. “Never heard of it.”

“It is quite old.”

“Well that will explain it then.”

“Explain what?”

“Why you know it and I don’t.”

The Doctor glared at her and she giggled. He sniffed. “You wound me.”

Rose snorted. “Oh yeah? Where?”

“Me arse.”

“Oh that’s lovely. Arse indeed.”

“Didn’t say arse, said ‘earts.”

“Did not.”

The Doctor’s expression was innocent indignation. “Did too.”

“No you didn’t.”

“Did.”

Rose shook her head and let it drop. Then realised something. “Hearts?” She asked, stressing the s. “As in?”

He lifted a hand with two fingers up and then dropped it back to the ground. “I am alien,” he reminded her. Rose blinked. Of course, she knew that, she just hadn’t considered the possibility of differences.

“Two,” she murmured, trying to get the concept into her head. She found herself staring at his chest.

“Go on,” he said softly.

"What?”

“Ah come on, you’ve curiosity all over your face.” He gave her a slightly manic grin.

Rose laughed; he was so daft at times. Still. Biting her bottom lip, she reached out a laid a hand on his chest. The rhythm that greeted her was unlike anything she’d felt before. Alien.

The Doctor watched her. He noted how her eyes widened as she touched him. Her expression hovered somewhere between awe and fear, and her hand trembled. Her gaze shifted and she stared at him. Something was bothering her; a small frown creased her brow.

“Is that… I mean…” She struggled to form a coherent sentence. Finally she blurted, “Are you human… ish? Or is this just a… dunno. Shell?”

“What, philosophically?”

“You know what I mean,” Rose snapped, sitting back. Her discovery just underlined how little she knew about the Doctor and it unnerved her. Why on earth did she trust him? For all she knew, he could be intergalactic murderer. She shivered.

“Oh stop it,” he said, irritated. “This is me, I assure you.”

“I have to take your word for that though,” Rose pointed out. He looked at her, rolled his eyes and then turned his attention back to the sky. She sat for a moment, just thinking. Her hand seemed to tingle, but she was fairly sure it was just her imagination. She shook herself, she was being ridiculous. Having two hearts didn’t really change him, just her perception of him. “Okay, I think I can do that.”

“I’m so pleased for you,” he replied dryly.

After a moment, she asked, “Doctor?”

“Hmm?”

“What did you wish for?”

“What?”

“Before, that rhyme. What did you wish for?”

He sat up slowly and in doing so was that much closer to her. Rose found herself pinned by a soul-searing stare. His eyes seemed impossibly dark in the fading light and they held something she was scared to identify. Her mouth went dry and her heart raced. Then he broke eye contact and the world returned to normal.

“Nothing,” he said firmly.

Of Chips

Characters: The Doctor, Rose Tyler
Pairing: None
Rating: K

Summary: A small repast. Set after The End of the World

Part 1 ~ Ketchup

It was a typical spring day; the sun was bright and little fluffy clouds scuttled across an azure sky. There was a breeze, though enough heat filtered down to stop the day feeling cold. Still the temperature was such it was comforting to cup the carton of chips and warm your hands.

Rose sat on the railing, one foot hooked under the lower bar, the other swinging carelessly. She watched the passing bustle of people and shifted slightly as the cold of the metal reached her skin through her jeans. She bit into another chip, tasting copious amounts of salt and vinegar. Licking her lips, she pondered ketchup and giggled.

“What’s funny?” The Doctor had leant his elbows on the railing and was watching the boats. As well tormenting the collection of pigeons and seagulls that were eyeing up the chips. They were edging closer even now, beady black eyes hungry but wary, looking for an opening.

“I was thinking about ketchup,” said Rose.

There was another squawk and flurry of wings.

“How is ketchup funny?”

“It’s not. I was just wondering whether to get some and then realised I’ve just see the world blow up and I was worrying about ketchup.”

There was a pause as he just looked at her. “You’re weird,” he informed finally.

Rose sniffed. “He travels in a blue box and he calls me weird.”

“No, contemplating ketchup is weird.”

“It’s an allegory,” Rose told him airily.

“Right.”

“It is. It represents what everybody wants but they don’t really need.”

“But of course. How did I not see that?”

“Don’t know. Oh, watch out for the…”

“Oi!”

“Seagull.”

Part 2 ~ Plaster

The walk back to the Tardis involved a convoluted route taking in a cash machine, a sewing shop and a chemist as Rose gathered supplies and trailed a moaning Doctor in her wake. By the time they had reached the blue box, she was tired and irritated and had a headache threatening.

Shoving the Doctor inside, Rose let the door slam shut.

“Sit!” She cut off his protest. She rooted through the plastic carrier bags, noting with only the smallest satisfaction that he had indeed sat down. “And take that off,” she added in a gentler tone.

“Can’t,” came the plaintive reply.

“Oh for crying out loud. Here.” Kneeling beside him, Rose helped the Doctor out of the jacket and examined the damage. “It’s not so bad,” she assured him.

“What about me? I’m dying here.”

Rose rolled her eyes and opened a box. She pulled out an antiseptic wipe and deftly cleaned the back of his hand. “I dunno,” she said. “You manage to save the Earth and a space station without a scratch but come off worse from an argument with a bird.”

“I’ll have you know birds are extremely dangerous. Nearly had my hand off.”

It wouldn’t have done to laugh, so Rose bit her lip and made a show of examining the injury. She still hadn’t figured out quite how he’d managed it, only that when the seagull had swooped and stolen his chips it had somehow caught the back of his hand. Either beak or feet, Rose decided as she looked at the scratches. They were hardly life threatening. At least, she didn’t think so. The worse of it was where his thumb joined his hand, where the scratch ran deeper and still bled.

Rose found the plasters and pulled out one of a reasonable size. Stripping off the backing, she carefully applied it to the Doctor’s hand. “There you go,” she said, sitting back and admiring her handiwork.

He lifted his hand and stared at the plaster. He moved his thumb experimentally. “Oh.”

“All better now?” Rose asked dryly. She picked up his leather coat and used the wipe to clean it of salt and vinegar and seagull droppings.

“I suppose so.” He was still annoyed; she could hear it in his voice. She supposed she’d be annoyed too if she could travel through time and space at will yet still end up being bested by a bird. The stupidity of it hit her hard. She squeezed her eyes shut and bit her lip.

“Rose?”

She shook her head, not daring to answer.

“Rose?” There was genuine concern in the Doctor’s voice now. He grabbed her. “Hey, no. Really, I’m fine.”

The last of her resolve crumbled and even with a hand crammed against her mouth, the noise was unmistakable. The Doctor’s hand froze in the action of comfort. “Well, really,” he said huffily.

Rose wiped the tears of mirth from her face.

“Sorry.”

Characters: Rose (POV)
Pairing: None
Rating: K

Summary: Rose considers her rethink. Set after Rose

My mother taught me two things - always go out in clean underwear and never take sweets from a stranger. The clean underwear was in case I got run over by a bus. I’m not sure why. Maybe the NHS won’t treat you if you have dirty knickers. And how exactly my mother envisaged me being run over by a bus when I went and came back from work in rush hour, I didn’t know. Nor did I ask, preferring not to know.

If you think that’s bad, the reason being the not taking of sweets is worse. Could be a rapist, enticing me. This was not concern for my well being however. After all, can’t have someone taking what could be sold. Nice, huh?

I love my mum, really I do. I just don’t like her at times. But she’s had a hard time of it – bringing me up on her own. I was a real tearaway as a child as well - always skipping school or giving cheek to my teachers. I dropped out of college because of a boy. That scared her. She was so worried I’d become a teenage mum. But I learned that lesson well – I had no intention of being a single mother on a London housing estate.

She’d kill me if she could see me now. Never take sweets off a stranger. Or get into their car.

Well I suppose I could argue it’s not a car.
